Samsung’s new foldable phone isn’t cheap, but MediaMarkt has it for 270 euros off

We’re not going to tell you that Samsung’s new foldables are cheap. They never have been, but this year, with price increases driven by the memory RAM crisis, they’re even less accessible for most people. Fortunately, if you’ve fallen for the new Galaxy Z Fold8, there is a way to grab it for a bit less money. For example, at MediaMarkt you can pick it up for €1,729. Here’s how.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, 256 GB

MSRP at Samsung — 1,199.00

MediaMarkt (with discounts applied) — 1,729.05

Amazon — 1,999.00

The price of the Korean-made foldable’s new format starts at €1,999, which is exactly the price shown at MediaMarkt, but if you’re a member of myMediaMarkt or sign up specifically for the occasion, you get €170 off. If you also use the code 5GALAXYZMM when placing your order, you’ll get an additional 5% off, bringing it down to those €1,729. You just need to be logged in when ordering and enter the code. And delivery is free as well.

The new Samsung foldable, already discounted

The new foldable debuts with a new format, as we said. It’s a passport-style foldable, almost as tall as it is wide, which makes it a practical and versatile smartphone that’s basically two phones in one.

Its exterior screen offers 5.5 inches, while the interior adds 7.6 inches when unfolded. Both are Dynamic AMOLED 2x and offer 120 Hz refresh.

The core of this new foldable is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 specially tuned for Galaxy devices, or in other words: this Galaxy is as powerful as the S26 Ultra, because, from the base, it also carries the same 12 GB of RAM as that model. The offer we’re talking about is for the base model, which comes with a healthy 256 GB of storage, although versions of 512 GB and 1 TB are also available (with a €170 discount at MediaMarkt); the 1 TB option comes with 16 GB of RAM.

Photographically speaking, this model offers a dual main camera, with 50 MP on both sensors, while both front cameras, the interior and the exterior, offer 10 MP for selfies and video calls, though the rear-facing camera has an 85° field of view while the inner reaches 105°.

On the battery side, there is a dual system totalling 4,800 mAh and it features 45W fast charging, 20W wireless charging, and PowerShare reverse charging to power compatible headphones.

This model features WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 and is compatible with 5G networks. It also includes NFC for mobile payments. Regarding dust and water resistance, it carries an IP48 rating.

Finally, it’s worth noting that, alongside its siblings the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Z Flip8, it’s among the first to boast One UI 9 on Android 17, Google’s OS version with Samsung’s customization layer, which is still offered only in beta on the rest of the brand’s models, and only for a few specific devices.
