RAM and SSD Prices Skyrocket Worldwide, but Affordable Alternatives Exist

It’s no longer just that RAM prices are sky-high (which they are); SSD prices have followed the same trajectory. Upgrading a PC right now is tricky if you don’t want to blow a fortune, but there are cheaper options. AliExpress’s Summer Promo has very strong deals (especially on mobiles), but also on PC components: you can get this Netac 1 TB SSD for €114.80 if you use the coupon ‘XATAKAES20‘ and pay with PayPal.

Speaking of coupons, AliExpress currently has a lot of active coupons to save on your purchases. We’ve left them here so you have them handy in case you want to make an additional purchase (remember coupons aren’t combinable).

DDR4 RAM can still be an interesting solution

Before we look at the SSD above, what if what you need is memory? DDR5 RAM prices are through the roof, but we can still find DDR4 RAM at good prices, which remains an attractive option for many users, especially if your CPU and motherboard are a few years old and you don’t want to upgrade them. That Netac RAM could be a great pick: two 8 GB RAM modules priced at 75.45 euros with the coupon ‘XATAKAES10‘.

As we said, these are two separate modules, so we’ll have a total of 16 GB of RAM in total. If we glance at PcComponentes and look for something similar, it’s hard to find the same amount of memory with similar specs for under €120.

Upgrading a PC without spending a fortune is still possible

Now, onto the SSD with a question: is it priced reasonably? Let’s analyze how SSD prices stand today using this Forgeon model as an example, which is similar in performance. The lowest price for the same capacity (1 TB) was €61.95 last September. Since then it has only risen and now costs €189.95 (reduced from €234.99).

In that sense, it’s clear we’re looking at a good price with this Netac model. It’s an NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD capable of reaching speeds of up to nearly 7,400 MB/s read. One caveat: your motherboard must be compatible with it. If your board only has PCIe 3.0 slots, you can still use it, but you won’t get the maximum speed.

The SSD is sold directly by the brand through AliExpress, and shipping is free (delivery is estimated between June 7 and 15). It’s also worth noting that it’s an SSD compatible with PlayStation 5.
