Carrefour Cuts Price on Samsung 98-Inch TV: Almost Like Having a Home Theater

Good times are ahead for those looking to upgrade their old television. While RAM shortages in other electronics have bitten and driven prices up, the opposite is happening with TVs. New deals appear almost daily, and often with larger screen sizes. Case in point: Carrefour has discounted a Samsung 98-inch television by €300.

A TV for Large Living Rooms

We’re talking about the Samsung TU98DU9005K, a model that’s a couple of years old and, as a result, quite affordable. It isn’t the brand’s latest television, but its 100 Hz panel and its enormous 98 inches make it a perfect choice for those with a spacious living room.

And as you may already know, manufacturers recommend different viewing distances based on screen size. With this model, a diagonal of almost two and a half meters, you might need to sit between 3 and 6 meters away, depending on the content you’re watching.

Regarding its specifications, this Samsung TU98DU9005K features a massive 98-inch LED panel with 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 100 Hz, well above the usual 50 or 60 Hz. This ensures smoother motion for sports content, such as the upcoming World Cup, or on consoles like the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X.

It’s a backlit TV, a step away from the pure blacks of OLEDs, but it offers other appealing benefits, such as multi-screen functionality with up to two simultaneous reproductions, AirPlay compatibility, and access to more than 100 free channels via Samsung TV Plus. All of this, as is typical for the Korean manufacturer, runs on the Tizen operating system.

Additionally, it includes up to €345 worth of free content, with promotions like movie rentals on or a free one-month access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Its price drops to €1,599 at Carrefour, down from €1,899. Shipping is free, and it can also be financed for up to 12 months without interest.
