It might seem like a pointless oddity and not the most aesthetically pleasing thing, but placing a wooden clothespin on one of the car’s ventilation grilles has a reason: the trick has gone viral because it uses the vehicle’s own ventilation system to create a cabin with a more pleasant smell. The mechanism is fairly straightforward: once we have applied a few drops of our favorite cologne or essential oil and attached it to one of the ventilation grilles, but it’s best to choose a side vent where the clip is securely fastened and won’t interfere with the blades, the display or the controls.
That said, it is preferable to use only a small amount and add more as needed, since some concentrated oils can damage or leave marks on certain plastic surfaces if they come into contact with them. Therefore it’s important that the essence is absorbed by the wood first and doesn’t end up dripping onto the dashboard.
Because of its properties, the wood absorbs the oil or fragrance and, when the air flows through the grille, helps that aroma to be released.
